Apex is hiring a Sr Project Scientist/Arborist to be based in Washington, remotely. At Apex, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated group of talented engineers, scientists, and multi-discipline professionals on projects that vary widely in size and complexity- each making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. This role offers significant room for professional growth.

Your Responsibilities as a Project Scientist/Arborist:
• Conduct tree and vegetation surveys, develop and implement vegetation protection plans, conduct hazard tree assessments
• Provide environmental compliance inspection and oversight on construction projects in the Puget Sound Region
• Field collection of environmental samples (air, water, stormwater, wastewater, soil)
• Routine regulatory reporting related to stormwater, wastewater, solid/hazardous waste, and air permit compliance
• Prepare environmental management plans related to stormwater pollution prevention and spill prevention
• Problem solving through selection and implementation of pollution prevention Best Management Practices for discharge permit compliance
• Assist with the evaluation and permitting of environmental projects
• Presentation of environmental topics to employees, clients, and contractors
• Travel to project sites within Washington and Oregon required
• Represent Apex in a safe and professional manner both internally and externally

What we're looking for:
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or related field
• 5+ years of related field experience
• CESCL certification required (must be maintained during employment)
• ISA Certified Arborist® required (must be maintained during employment)
• TRAQ certification preferred
• Demonstrated experience in arboriculture, tree care, or urban forestry
• Demonstrates sound arboricultural judgment in assessments and recommendations
• Experience collecting field samples of soil, groundwater, surface water, stormwater, wastewater, and air using standard environmental protocols
• Experience preparing regulatory reports and permit-related documentation

Hourly Expected Pay Range

$55—$65 USD
