Job Title: RN - MedSurg Profession: Nursing Specialty: Agency Staff RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License, State of Michigan Certifications: BLS, NIH Must-Have: Associate's Degree in Nursing required Bachelor's Degree in Science in Nursing must be obtained per specified timelines Description: Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association and legally by the State. Demonstrates competency through critical thinking using the nursing process. Includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds standards of professional performance as described by the American Nurses Association. Involves ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, and leadership. Engages in education, evidence-based practice, research, quality of practice, professional evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes. Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program is essential. Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Requires time management and organizational skills and the ability to make quality, independent decisions. Demonstrates analytical and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines and high volumes. Maintains strict levels of confidentiality and the ability to listen to others. Competency in using a variety of computer hardware and software systems is necessary. Provides evidence-based nursing care consistent with the interprofessional plan of care. Acts as a patient/family advocate. Performs point of care testing as required. Demonstrates a high standard of moral, ethical, and culturally sensitive behavior. Formulates decisions and actions based on ethical principles. Identifies patient/family needs and analyzes assessment data. Develops and implements individualized interprofessional plans of care. Evaluates patient and family educational needs and employs appropriate teaching strategies. Initiates patient discharge planning at the time of patient contact. Ensures accurate and timely documentation is performed. Assumes a leadership role and delegates appropriately to unlicensed assistive personnel. Engages in ongoing improvement activities contributing to quality patient care. Participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures. Performs other duties as assigned.
