Compensation: $85,000–$95,000 per year

A national HVAC organization supports a network of operating companies through shared expertise, systems and operational resources. Its finance team helps maintain reliable financial information and supports day-to-day business operations.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant supports the Controller and Accounting Manager across financial close, reporting, analysis and internal controls. This hands-on position combines general ledger accounting with exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, and payroll.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare internal financial statements and explain financial results, including differences between budgets and actual performance.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations on monthly and quarterly schedules, investigating discrepancies and resolving errors.
• Support month-end and year-end close with accurate accounting records and timely financial information.
• Maintain records consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company accounting policies.
• Research accounting issues and communicate documented conclusions to finance leadership.
• Strengthen internal controls by documenting accounting policies and improving business processes.
• Assist with audit requests, banking activities and sales tax reporting.
• Provide accounting-system support, including Microsoft Dynamics GP, and recommend practical changes to procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve spending efficiency and contribute to finance department goals.
• Support daily finance operations, special projects and additional reporting needs across accounting functions.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• At least three years of general accounting experience, including balance sheet reconciliations, sales tax reporting and financial analysis; the stated experience range is three to five years.
• Working knowledge of GAAP, Microsoft Excel and automated accounting systems.
• Ability to investigate accounting problems, interpret financial information and identify process improvements.
• Strong organization and attention to detail, with the ability to handle competing priorities and work independently.
• Clear written and verbal communication, effective collaboration with department leaders and executives, and discretion with confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP; comparable accounting-system experience is relevant.
