Entry Level Welder

Fabricator

This role focuses on assembling pre-formed sheet metal components and steel equipment in a shop environment, using a variety of hand and power tools. You will be taught how to put ductwork together, set pumps and filters, and bolt frames while following basic prints and instructions. The position offers steady full-time hours with the potential for overtime and a clear path from contract to hire.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble pre-formed sheet metal components and ductwork in the shop with guidance and support from team members.
  • Operate hand and power tools, including air hammers, drills, hammers, and screwdrivers, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Perform welding and assembly of steel equipment according to specifications and shop standards.
  • Set pumps and filters, ensuring proper alignment, secure installation, and correct connections.
  • Bolt and secure frames and related components, verifying that all fasteners are properly tightened and installed.
  • Read and interpret basic prints and drawings to understand job requirements and assembly steps.
  • Verify measurements and fitment of components to ensure quality and accuracy of assembled products.
  • Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment while working in the shop.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors to complete assignments on schedule and maintain workflow.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment used during fabrication.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to work confidently with hand and power tools, including air hammers, drills, hammers, and screwdrivers.
  • Experience with welding and assembling steel equipment in a shop or similar environment.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to assemble ductwork and related mechanical components.
  • Ability to read and understand basic prints and drawings to complete fabrication tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
  • Reliability to work scheduled shifts and handle 40–48 hours per week, including occasional Friday or Saturday work.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • OSHA 10 certification is preferred; the certification can be obtained after an offer is made.
  • Comfort working with mechanical systems such as pumps and filters.
  • Ability to work effectively in a shop environment as part of a fabrication team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, processes, and safety practices.

Work Environment

This position is based in a shop environment and involves hands-on fabrication work with sheet metal and steel equipment. Typical hours are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with the potential for full or half days on Fridays or Saturdays, resulting in approximately 40–48 hours per week. You will regularly use tools such as air hammers, drills, hammers, screwdrivers, and welding equipment. Personal protective equipment is provided, and steel-toe footwear is required. A hard hat is not required for this role according to current shop practices. The work involves standing, moving around the shop, and working with machinery and materials in a production setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carey, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
