Through this global organization, Caterpillar designs and manufacture large (greater than 18 liters) diesel and natural gas engines, powertrains and key engine systems. LPSD products and solutions support customers across power generation, industrial, marine, oil & gas, rail, services and Cat® machine applications worldwide. \n

Job Summary \n
\n
\nThe Large Power Systems Division is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join the Turbocharger Application team, located in either Lafayette, IN. In this role, you will provide critical support for NPI, CPI, factory support, and cost reduction initiatives for LPSD engines. You will collaborate closely with the engine platform and application teams, performance teams, and external suppliers to define program requirements and develop effective solutions.\n

What You Will Do \n
\n

\n
• Collaborate with LPSD Platform and application teams on program requirements
\n
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring they meet program requirements, timelines, and cost targets
\n
• Present in component and program level design reviews and gateways
\n
• Utilize APQP to collaborate with suppliers; optimizing designs to meet performance, reliability, durability, and cost targets
\n
• Direct the work of off-site engineering groups providing analysis, and detailing services
\n
• Complete design FMEA's and develop validation requirements for new and improved designs
\n
• Create product validation plans and lead execution of these plans
\n
• Assist in teardown/inspection of turbochargers being used in validation or returned from a customer
\n

Degree Requirement \n
\n
\nBachelor's degree related to Engineering/Technology required\n
\n
What You Will Have \n
\n

• Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
\n
• Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
\n
• Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
\n
• Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
\n
• Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
\n
• Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
\n

Top candidates will also have: \n

• Master's degree in Engineering/Technology, or similar
\n
• Experience in Caterpillar engine products, applications
\n
• Experience in component design engineering
\n
• Experience in Gas or Diesel Performance Engineering
\n
• Experience in Caterpillar programs and processes (NPI, CPI, NTI, Teamcenter)
\n

\n$89,210.00 - $133,810.00\n
