We do this by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws. Job Description What We Need YOU To Do: The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency wants you to be our newest environmental specialist in the Division of Surface Water (DSW) at our Central Office in downtown Columbus, Ohio. We knew you’d be interested. In your new role, you will write, review, and process individual National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits including appropriate limitations, monitoring requirements, and compliance schedules – and you will review and respond to reports required by permits while ensuring consistency with state and federal laws, regulations, and policies. You are going to develop guidance, rules, and procedures, as well as technical assistance, to agency personnel and the regulated community regarding the NPDES program. You will review agency work products, making sure to follow all compliance rules and laws. As environmental specialist, you will evaluate technical reports and specifications of treatment facilities and technologies. You are going to conduct training and assist in the development of training manuals. You will submit monthly activity reports, budgets, and program proposals. You will write and review Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) permits and coordinate with the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) regarding CAFO-related issues. OR 4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in a position involving engineering (Sanitary, Geotechnical, Civil, Environmental, Agricultural or Chemical).Training & experience must be commensurate with duties to be assigned.
