Senior Quality Technician

Full Time Lincoln, NE, US

Salary Range: $25.00 To $32.00 Annually

Driving energy transformation is critical to reducing climate change. To limit climate risks, it is necessary to reduce the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere. Help us drive energy transformation on a production basis, performing moderate mechanical assembly work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Assembling structures according to engineering specifications, utilizing hand tools and portable power tools.

We are looking for an ambitious and driven colleague that wants to work closely with our local operations team.

Job Summary

Inspects product and monitors the manufacturing process according to established standards. Works with the Quality and Operations groups to ensure to ensure quality product is shipped to customers on time. Works under the guidance of the Quality Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Within the assigned manufacturing area, ensure that Quality Technician and Quality Inspector activities provide timely and effective production coverage and support.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other Quality Technicians, Quality Inspectors, Value Stream Managers, Area Leads and Operators.
  • Assign work tasks to other team members and follow-up on results, as necessary.
  • Assess levels of production support and needs for improvement.
• Represent the Quality Team as a single point-of-contact for assigned value streams in the daily production meetings.
  • Communicate fact-based needs for improvement to the Operations, Engineering and Quality groups.
  • Communicate our internal customers’ needs within the Quality Team.
• Coordinate the daily MRB meeting at 9:30 in Bay B and present major findings to Quality Manager.
• Review and sign FRRs as backup to Quality Engineer(s)
• Review and sign pertinent PD, LMS, ST for manufacturing engineering team.
• Take a lead role in training Quality Technicians and Quality Inspectors.
• Conduct inspections and evaluations to identify nonconforming material and equipment.
• Support the nonconforming material system to implement containment and dispositions.
• Check whether established control plans are adequate and effective in all phases of production.
• Assist manufacturing operations to quickly identify, contain and permanently resolve quality issues.
• Perform internal Quality Management System and process audits.
• Maintain gage checking and calibration systems.
• Conduct targeted studies of process capability, and gage repeat-ability/reproducibility.
• Assist in the improvement of product and service quality by conducting root cause analysis, planning corrective and preventive actions, and verifying the results.

Requirements

• Education
  • Associate’s degree in a technical discipline is desired.
• Certifications
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Quality Technician (CQT) certification preferred.
  • Other ASQ certifications are desired, such as Quality Inspector, Quality Auditor, Quality Process Analyst, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Quality Improvement Associate.
  • Mechanical Inspector and ASNT (Level II or III) certifications are desired.
• Experience
  • More than 3 years of experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance role desired.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial work setting is required.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 requirements is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and specifications required.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) experience required.
  • Experience with various physical and mechanical inspections required.
  • Experience with destructive and nondestructive testing (NDT) methods preferred.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing tools (5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping) preferred.
  • Training as an ISO 9001 auditor is preferred.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with SPC, gage R&R, and basic quality tools (check sheets, flow charts, control charts, histograms, and scatter diagrams) is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform all Quality Technician activities at a sustained high level.
  • Ability to achieve planned results by utilizing organization, prioritization and communication skills within a team environment is required. This includes recognizing internal customer expectations and deciding priorities accordingly.

• Computer
  • Basic level knowledge of MS Word and Excel required, Intermediate level preferred.
  • Basic level knowledge of MS Outlook preferred.
• Other
  • Have the flexibility to adjust work hours and schedule to support internal and external customer needs.
  • Professional organization involvement is desired, such as American Society for Quality (ASQ) or other related.
