If you're working in public accounting and want to move beyond a traditional compliance-heavy Tax Senior position, this could be a strong next step.

We're working with an established accounting and advisory firm that is continuing to grow its Private Client Tax practice in the New York Metro area.

The team advises a diverse portfolio of successful individuals, privately held businesses and family groups, including clients connected to media, entertainment and other creative industries

Many of these clients have sophisticated financial arrangements involving multiple businesses, investments and ownership structures, giving you exposure to both the individual and entity sides of taxation

The Role

You'll join a collaborative Private Client team where you'll gradually take greater responsibility for your own engagements and client relationships.

Your work will include:

• Preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns.
• Working with partnerships, S Corporations and other pass-through structures.
• Supporting high-net-worth individuals, families and business owners.
• Understanding how business activity impacts an individual's overall tax position.
• Assisting with tax estimates, projections and year-round planning.
• Reviewing financial information to identify potential tax considerations.
• Supporting clients with more complex multi-entity structures.
• Researching technical tax matters.
• Communicating directly with clients and responding to day-to-day queries.
• Working alongside experienced Managers, Senior Managers and Partners.
• Taking increasing responsibility for engagements from initial planning through completion.
• Gaining exposure to advisory assignments outside of traditional tax compliance.

Depending on your previous experience, there may also be opportunities to broaden your exposure into related accounting and financial reporting work.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in speaking with people who have:

• 2+ years of public accounting experience.
• Experience preparing or reviewing individual and business tax returns.
• A good understanding of partnerships and/or S Corporations.
• Experience working with pass-through entities and owner-managed businesses.
• An understanding of how business and personal taxation interact.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• The confidence to develop direct client relationships.
• An interest in developing a long-term career within Private Client Tax.

A CPA, EA, JD or progress toward a relevant professional qualification would be beneficial but isn't essential.

Previous exposure to high-net-worth individuals, privately held businesses, family groups, complex investment structures or clients within entertainment/media would be particularly useful.
