Volunteer Clinician - Clinician Response Team

Under close direction from the Division Chief of Safety and Health (HSO), serve as a volunteer with a team of clinicians and perform highly responsible and confidential clinical work involving crisis intervention, counseling, emotional and psychological support for Fire Fighters, Police Officers, Dispatchers and non‑public safety employees. Responsibilities Perform intervention and assessment services for public safety employees, non‑public safety employees, and their family members experiencing a crisis event. Provide mobile crisis intervention services, respond to emergency calls through call‑out by the HSO or city designee, and provide stabilization services and emotional and psychological support. Provide emotional support and empathetic/active listening for crisis‑affected individuals and families. Counsel, advise, and assist individuals in identifying appropriate resources for additional assistance. Identify social and community service agency options and make appropriate recommendations to individuals. Assist in coordinating referral services using various community agencies, support groups, and other community‑based resources. Provide confidential emotional and psychological support. Participate in community outreach with approval by the Division Chief of Safety and Health (HSO). Periodically review and update resources, and provide input and recommendations for mental health programs administered. Recommend improvements, assist in implementing changes and objectives. Report concerns directly to the Division Chief of Safety and Health (HSO). Act as liaison between the city and social service agencies and community organization boards/councils to analyze needs and establish effective working relationships. Perform all work duties in accordance with City policies and procedures. Work in a safe manner, report unsafe activity and conditions, and follow citywide and public safety policies. Serve as an advisor to the Peer Support Team and provide recommendations. Tasks include 12 hours of station visits and 8 hours of ride‑along per quarter, participation in quarterly CRT meetings, attendance at citywide and public safety department functions, participation in public safety and non‑public safety mental health training, availability for crisis support, and serving as an advisor for the Peer Support Team. Qualifications Licensed in the State of Florida as a Clinical Psychologist, LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, Psychiatrist, or equivalent. Minimum of three years’ experience in direct patient treatment post‑licensure. Completion of Clinician Awareness Training. Completion of background check.
