- Retail BuyerHybrid • Powder Mountain - Eden, UT 84310## OverviewSalary Range$27.00 - $30.00 Hourly## SummaryThe Seasonal Retail Buyer supports the planning, purchasing, and inventory management of retail merchandise for Powder Mountain and Powder Haven. Reporting directly to the Senior Retail & Rental Manager, this position executes the department's retail buying strategy by carrying out purchasing plans, managing vendor relationships, coordinating seasonal orders, and providing inventory support. All buying decisions, merchandise direction, and financial objectives are established in collaboration with and under the direction of the Senior Retail & Rental Manager.This is a seasonal, part-time position with workload concentrated around the resort's annual buying cycles. Winter merchandise buying primarily takes place from mid-January through March for the following winter season, while summer merchandise buying primarily occurs during May through June for the following summer season. Outside of these buying periods, responsibilities may include purchase order management, vendor communication, inventory planning, and other retail support as needed.Much of the work may be completed remotely, with occasional on-site visits during key buying periods, vendor meetings, preseason planning, or as business needs require.## About this RoleJob Title: Retail Buyer Department: Retail & Rental Status: Seasonal PT Reporting To: Senior Retail & Rental ManagerKey Responsibilities:Buying & Vendor Management* Execute seasonal buying plans developed in collaboration with the Senior Retail & Rental Manager.* Place purchase orders as directed by the Senior Retail & Rental Manager and manage order confirmations, revisions, and delivery schedules.* Maintain strong relationships with vendor representatives and serve as a primary point of contact for product availability, order status, and shipment timelines.* Present new products, brands, and merchandising opportunities to the Senior Retail & Rental Manager for review and approval.* Participate in vendor meetings, line reviews, and seasonal buying appointments alongside or on behalf of the Senior Retail & Rental Manager as appropriate.* Be available to attend industry trade shows, buying events, and vendor meetings when applicable to support seasonal purchasing decisions.* Research new brands, products, and industry trends that support the retail strategies of Powder Mountain and Powder Haven.Inventory Planning* Monitor inventory levels and provide recommendations to the Senior Retail & Rental Manager for replenishment, markdowns, and closeout opportunities.* Assist with preseason inventory planning and seasonal forecasting under the direction of the Senior Retail & Rental Manager.* Coordinate inventory activities to support operational needs and financial goals established by department leadership.Administrative Responsibilities* Maintain accurate purchasing records and vendor documentation.* Track open purchase orders and proactively resolve shipping or fulfillment issues.* Assist with product setup, pricing, and inventory organization within retail systems.* Support seasonal inventory counts and inventory reconciliation efforts.* Prepare reports, sales analysis, and buying updates as requestedRequirements and/or Qualifications:* Previous experience in retail buying, purchasing, merchandising, or inventory management preferred.* Knowledge of outdoor, ski, snowboard, bike, and lifestyle retail products preferred.* Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.* Proficiency with Google Workspace, including Sheets, Docs, Drive, and Gmail.* Experience with retail inventory management and point-of-sale systems preferred.* Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the Senior Retail & Rental Manager, internal departments, and vendor partners.Physical Requirements- Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:* Full range of body movements including handling, lifting, reaching, bending, and climbing* Reach, push, pull, lift, and carry objects that may be heavy (40+ lbs) such as ski equipment, rental gear, and merchandise boxes* Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and twisting during customer service, inventory management, and equipment handling* Walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain, especially around the shop exterior and mountain base areas* Climb/descend stairs/ladders, including accessing storage areas and shop loftWorking Environment:Work is primarily performed in a remote home-office setting, supplemented by periodic on-site shifts within fast-paced retail shops, rental facilities, and resort administrative offices. On-site duties involve frequent exposure to outdoor mountain weather conditions, including cold temperatures, snow, ice, and wind when transitioning between base facilities or attending mountain events. Indoor shop environments feature variable temperatures, heat fluctuations near entryways, and active floor circulation. Noise levels vary from quiet to moderate in remote/office setups, to busy, high-energy, and noisy during peak operating hours, vendor appointments, trade shows, and retail shop visits. On-site visits require navigating diverse mountain terrain, including snow-covered, icy, slick, or uneven walking surfaces, as well as stairs, shop lofts, and inventory storage areas.
