Mainframe BCPDR/GDPS Automation Engineer

Our client is currently seeking a high caliber mainframe BCPDR Engineer for a long-term basis within our client’s team of experienced professionals. Based REMOTELY in the United States.

The mainframe BCPDR engineer is focused on providing high availability, highly resilient, and disaster recovery solutions for mainframe clients. This person works closely with the customer to establish an environment for this solution, customizing it for their needs. They establishtest plans and assist with failover testingas well as provide long term support for BCP/DR events.

Job Requirements

• Design, review,develop, test, implement, validate, and supportan IBM Geographically Dispersed Parallel Sysplex solution meeting customer requirements.
• Assist with system solutiondesign including conceptpresentations and investment proposals.
• Design and assist the customer in establishing the necessary Sysplexand LPAR configuration to support the addition of the GDPS Controlling System(s) and the SDM Systems(s) (for XRC).
• Design and assist the customer to establish the necessary IODFs for the solution.
• Design and assist the migration of DASD and tape storageenvironments to new hardware.
• Assist the customer with the installation and customization of NetView, SA for z/OS, and GDPS.
• Design and Support High Availability, DisasterRecovery, and Isolation Testing exercises.
• Design and assist the migration of DASD and tape storageenvironments to new hardware.
• Ensure that all solutionenvironments comply with customer securitystandards.
• Consult with the customerabout software changesand new featuresof software.
• Ensure that all work and deliverables comply with customersecurity standards, changecontrol, audit processes and mechanisms.
• Produce cleartechnical documentation and conform to any audit requirements.
• Provide Edge internal or customer trainingon relevant areas of responsibility.
• Conform to customer auditrequirements.
• Must work hours accordingto customer availability requirements and implementation windows.
• May requiretravel.
• Other dutiesas required.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of progressive experience as a mainframe systemsprogrammer.
• Current knowledge of mainframe architecture, hardware, operating systems, and components. Components may Include, but are not limited to, TN3270, SMP/e, JCL, WLM (Workload Manager), CF, SMF, DASD, DFSMS,LPARS, Channels, IPL processes, CICS, DB2, MQ, Parallel Sysplex,IO Configurations, OS Configurations, z/OS Performance Tuning and Capacity Planning tools, and related ISV software products.
• Functional knowledgeand use of z/OS components and supporting hardware.
• Functional knowledgeof mainframe middleware, batch, and JCL.
• Functional knowledge of application interfaces (FTP/TN3270/connection/batch/CICS/DB2/MQ/distributed).
• Operating systemgeneral knowledge for Windows.
• Functional knowledge of Microsoft officeproducts.
• Strong leadership, time management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communications, and interpersonal skills.
• Eager to build professional relationships with staff and clients.
• Ability to work unsupervised and independently seek out and interact with colleagues and outside vendors.
• Ability to understand & facilitate decisionmaking on key issues concerning a project.
