Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a NICU position requiring a minimum of 1 year of Epic EMR experience and NICU II experience, with night shift scheduling in a 46-bed neonatal intermediate care unit.

Details

• Work setting is a 46-bed NICU within a hospital environment, functioning as a neonatal intermediate care unit
• Patient population includes neonates greater than 34 weeks (primarily >30 weeks, >1000g, and less than 5L HFNC) who have been stabilized and transferred from the NICU
• Patient care includes post-op patients (G-tubes, ostomies), central line management, and septic workups for qualifying patients
• Patient ratio is 1:3–4
• Nurse-to-family discharge preparation is a core focus of the unit
• Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend coverage required, though scheduling may vary based on unit need
• On-call is required — a minimum of 3 call shifts per contract, with potential variation based on unit need
• Floating required to other NICU and pediatric areas based on census needs; floating will only occur to units where competency has been demonstrated
• Medication system: Pyxis
• EMR: Epic (minimum 1 year of experience required)

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or a compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS and NRP; S.T.A.B.L.E. is preferred
• Minimum 1 year of recent NICU experience required; 2 years preferred
• NICU Level II experience required; NICU Level III experience preferred
• Minimum 1 year of Epic EMR experience required
• Required skills: IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, antibiotics/antivirals, blood glucose monitoring, breastfeeding support and handling of breast milk, feeding support (bottle, breast, gavage), NG/NJ tube placement and management, Bubble CPAP, isolation precautions/PPE, and neonatal sepsis care
• Preferred skills: emergency medications, steroids, endocrine/metabolic management, hyperbilirubinemia, phototherapy, HFNC, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis workup, and care of neonates 29–34 weeks
• Candidate must reside more than 100 miles from all Prisma Health facilities to be eligible for this travel assignment
• Two professional references required for consideration
• A copy of your driver's license is required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers will be considered based on experience
• Orientation is held every Monday
• Pre-assignment testing and online modules are required for all RN travelers and must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
• Modules are completed prior to the start date and are due annually thereafter
• Candidates who have previously worked three consecutive 13-week contracts (39 weeks) with this health system must either convert to employee status or take a minimum six-month break before returning as a traveler
