Pay Rate: $25-$31 per Hour (DOE)

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support students in a school-based setting. This is an itinerant role serving multiple campuses throughout the week and working under the supervision of licensed Occupational Therapists (OTs).

The COTA will provide direct occupational therapy services to students and support 2-3 Occupational Therapists with larger caseloads , helping to ensure students receive high-quality services that promote independence, participation, and success in the educational environment.

This position is ideal for a flexible, organized professional who enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting diverse student populations across multiple school settings.

Compensation

• $25-$31 per hour
• Full-Time Hours
• School-Year Schedule

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct occupational therapy services to students in accordance with IEP goals and supervising therapist recommendations.
• Support multiple Occupational Therapists with high-volume caseloads across various school sites.
• Travel between assigned campuses to provide therapy services and student support.
• Assist with occupational therapy screenings, observations, assessments, and data collection.
• Monitor student progress and assist with documentation and progress reporting.
• Implement therapeutic activities designed to improve fine motor, sensory, visual motor, self-help, and functional classroom skills.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families to support student achievement.
• Prepare and maintain therapy materials, adaptive equipment, and instructional resources.
• Assist in implementing classroom accommodations and modifications recommended by the Occupational Therapist.
• Support newly referred and newly qualified students receiving occupational therapy services.
• Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
• Provide support and training to staff regarding adaptive equipment, sensory strategies, handwriting supports, and fine motor interventions.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with professional and educational requirements.

Qualifications

Required Education

• Associate Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

Required Licensure

• Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification.
• Current state license or eligibility for licensure.

Preferred Experience

• Previous school-based experience preferred.
• Experience working with children and adolescents.
• Experience supporting students receiving special education services.
• Ability to manage responsibilities across multiple campuses and caseloads.

• Knowledge of IEP implementation and special education services.

Physical Requirements

This position may require:

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling therapy equipment and materials.
• Assisting students with positioning, mobility, and participation in educational activities.
• Fine motor dexterity for therapy activities and documentation.
