Shift: First Shift

Salary: $100,000 - $120,000 per year

We are a premier structural steel manufacturer located in Canton, OH, dedicated to producing high-quality fabricated metal products for major infrastructure and commercial applications, serving state departments of transportation, infrastructure networks, and heavy industrial markets.

Quality Manager Role

The Quality Manager oversees all daily quality assurance, testing, and control functions within production while ensuring compliance with national structural steel and welding standards. This role exists to drive continuous process improvement, maintain regulatory compliance, and manage the quality control team and external inspection relationships.

Quality Manager Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day quality control functions and operational quality workflows within the facility
• Direct quality department scheduling for both internal production oversight and external inspections
• Lead comprehensive quality audits with governing agencies including AISC and state DOTs
• Oversee material certifications, structural testing, and non-destructive examination (NDE) processes
• Manage company welding procedures, qualification records, and welder certifications to AWS D1.1 standards
• Monitor product deficiencies, identify procedure root causes, and implement corrective actions
• Report quality performance metrics, trends, and operational challenges directly to executive leadership
• Maintain and monitor operating budgets and departmental expenses for the quality department
• Work professionally with outside vendors, suppliers, and third-party inspectors to resolve quality issues
• Supervise, train, and support a team of four direct quality technicians

Quality Manager Reporting Relationships

The Quality Manager reports directly to executive ownership (Co-CEO). This position directly supervises four Quality Technicians.

About You

• Possess extensive experience in quality control management within structural steel and heavy welding manufacturing
• Demonstrate working knowledge of AWS D1.1, AASHTO, AISC, and ASTM specifications
• Possess understanding of NDE inspection practices including VT, MT, UT, and RT
• Maintain Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credentials (preferred) or equivalent industry background
• Utilize strong communication and professional interpersonal skills when engaging vendors and cross-functional teams
• Exhibit a practical, flexible, and open-minded leadership style while maintaining regulatory compliance

• Read and interpret complex engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and structural specifications
• Possess hands-on experience with common welding processes including GMAW, SMAW, and SAW
• Demonstrate effective team management skills to direct, mentor, and schedule quality technicians
• Maintain proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and administrative reporting tools

Physical Demands & Working Conditions:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, or crouch for extended periods during shop floor inspections
• Ability to occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry tools and materials weighing up to 50 lbs
• Ability to work in variable manufacturing environment conditions, including exposure to heat, cold, and humidity
• Willingness to travel up to 5% for training and vendor visits as needed
