Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing critical accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, and supporting month-end and year-end close activities. This role requires a strong technical accounting background, analytical mindset, and the ability to collaborate across departments. The ideal candidate has experience in financial services, investment management, banking, lending, or a related industry and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and financial records.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Analyze financial results and provide variance explanations to management.
• Assist with regulatory reporting and financial compliance requirements.
• Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses.
• Monitor internal controls and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and mitigate risk.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting.
• Support treasury activities, including cash management and liquidity reporting.
• Research and document accounting issues, technical accounting guidance, and policy updates.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff.
• Participate in system implementations, automation initiatives, and special projects.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, and financial modeling techniques.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred

• Experience in financial services, wealth management, asset management, investment advisory, banking, lending, fintech, or insurance.
• CPA license or active CPA candidate strongly preferred.
• Experience with NetSuite, Workday, Sage Intacct, Oracle, SAP, or similar ERP systems.
• Knowledge of regulatory reporting and financial services industry compliance requirements.
• Experience with process automation and financial system enhancements.
