Nurses with OCN certification are eligible for OCN Incentive Pay after 90 days of employment or upon obtainment of certification. Responsibilities Administer chemotherapy, hydration and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician. Maintain knowledge of drug reimbursement procedures. Complete all chemotherapy charge forms. Assure pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies. Demonstrate knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage. Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, including problems and symptom management. Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices. Administer all medications using correct medication product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique. Display appropriate technical skills for the administration of chemotherapy and medications to include, but not limited to, venipuncture, central line access and infusion devices, program portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery, and provide instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home. Document nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart. Communicate all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician. Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient’s chart. Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred. RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must maintain continuing education requirements. Working Conditions Minimum two years nursing experience required, oncology experience preferred.
