You've sat across from families and known the truthful answer was no. Giving that answer cost you something: a target, your manager's favor, a deal. In this role, that answer is the work. Alpha is a private K–12 school network. Students complete their academics in roughly two hours per day and dedicate the remainder to developing real-world skills—and the test data confirms it's effective. This is an on‑site position at one campus, in person, every day, located in one of 12 markets: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, La Jolla, or Malibu, CA; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Greenwich, CT; Nashville, TN; or Park City, UT. Select your market during the application process. Families pay a premium, conduct extensive research, and pose difficult questions about rigor and expectations within the first ten minutes. The model functions only when the enrolled families genuinely want what it offers. In a small cohort, even one family who expected something different alters the environment for everyone. You will oversee one campus's admissions process from start to finish. Initial inquiry, fit discussion, campus visit, shadow day, decision meeting. You are the individual that family engages with from inquiry through the first day of school. A typical week might include: responding to every inquiry within four hours, guiding a skeptical father through the afternoon program, facilitating a shadow day, documenting everything in HubSpot, and informing a family their child would be better suited elsewhere. You will manage 20 or more active families at various stages concurrently. You form the fit assessment, and you communicate the outcome, in person, using your own words. The network is expanding, and the playbook is developing alongside it. Those who validate a market write the FAQs, establish the fit criteria, and define the standards the next campus adopts—and they become the name affluent families in their city share with one another. The types of people who excel in this role: admissions and enrollment professionals from selective institutions; high‑value consumer closers whose client was a family, such as luxury real estate agents, private client advisors, or premium practice owners; and hospitality and private service operators who have delivered white‑glove experiences for discerning clients. What You Will Be Doing Owning the enrollment experience for every prospective family, from initial inquiry through onboarding, and conducting a genuine needs assessment before presenting anything. Managing 20 or more active families simultaneously, responding to every inquiry promptly and reviewing applications each day. Conducting campus tours, open houses, information sessions, and shadow days that demonstrate clearly who this is and is not for. Developing the admit or decline recommendation and communicating the decision to the family directly. Maintaining HubSpot and the student information system (SIS) current following every interaction, utilizing AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude for preparation and summaries, and providing pipeline health reports to leadership weekly. What You Won’t Be Doing Pursuing a seat‑fill metric. A family who enrolls and departs is a worse result here than a family you declined. Being overruled on fit to preserve a relationship or achieve a yield goal. Following scripts, executing call blitzes, or offering discount closes. Transferring families down a series of coordinators, or awaiting a committee for routine decisions. Conducting amenity tours that avoid the difficult questions. Director Of Membership Key Responsibilities Enroll the right families at one campus and ensure even the declines feel like quality service. Basic Requirements 3 or more years in a client‑facing role where an individual or family was the buyer at $25,000 or more per client, or $2,000 or more per month. (Direct B2C/D2C only; B2B and enterprise sales are not applicable.) You have personally owned a client, admissions, or enrollment journey from initial inquiry through the commitment decision. You have managed 7 or more client relationships simultaneously in a CRM, database, or tracking system. You have advised a prospective client not to buy, enroll, or join because it was not the right fit. You have used AI tools in a client‑facing workflow. You communicate concisely and professionally in live conversations and writing with executives, high‑net‑worth individuals, or other demanding clients. You have personally led polished in‑person tours, presentations, meetings, or hosted experiences for affluent families, senior executives, or other high‑profile visitors. You can develop a multi‑touch relationship over 30 or more days and remain engaged with families who are not ready to enroll immediately. You have owned a measurable enrollment, revenue, membership, or high‑value customer‑acquisition target, including generating qualified demand and building local referral or community partnerships. You live in, or will relocate within 60 days to, an open campus market: Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, La Jolla, or Malibu, CA; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA; Boca Raton, FL; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Greenwich, CT; Nashville, TN; or Park City, UT. Willing to work on‑site at your campus daily. Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Nice‑to‑have Requirements Admissions or enrollment management experience at a selective private, independent, or boarding school. Luxury residential real estate, private banking, family office, concierge medicine, or high‑end event planning, where the family was your buyer. You built the enrollment process or service standards yourself instead of inheriting them. You already know affluent families, preschools, or family advisors in one of the 12 markets. Owner‑operator experience where you sold, delivered, and retained high‑value clients yourself.
