Caturus is a Houston-based, private exploration and production company seeking to materially grow production through development of deep, high pressure, dry gas windows of the Eagle Ford and Austin Chalk, as well as Haynesville formations located in Texas and Louisiana while maintaining a relentless focus on safety.

Caturus is seeking an experienced Manager, Financial Reporting to support the Financial Reporting function for the upstream business unit. This individual will be responsible for the timely preparation of external U.S. GAAP compliant financial statements for Caturus Energy, LLC. This individual will contribute to accounting research and will coordinate with external auditors. This position will collaborate with other functions across the organization, including operations, commercial, tax, treasury and FP&A, and will serve as a subject matter resource for financial reporting matters.  The Manager will also drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, controls, and systems. The individual will report to the Vice President, Accounting and the work location is Caturus corporate headquarters in Houston, TX.

 
Key Accountabilities:

• Responsible for the preparation of periodic external financial statements and footnotes, assist with internal management reports, reports for bank compliance and ad hoc reports for the upstream business unit
• Prepare MD&A for Caturus Energy LLC, as required by certain indentures 
• Lead, mentor, and develop upstream financial reporting staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
• Analysis of operating trends, liquidity, working capital and key financial ratios
• Assist with the research and preparation of technical accounting memos for complex accounting matters and transactions
• Monitor and assess new accounting pronouncements and assist with implementation 
• Ensure compliance with SOX requirements and maintain an effective internal control environment over financial reporting
• Financial statement audit liaison with external auditors, responsible for reviewing items required for financial statement audits (PBCs)
• Identify and implement process improvements that enhance reporting efficiency, data quality, and control effectiveness 
• Responsible for maintaining debt covenant compliance calculations and reporting 
• Ensure deadlines are met, including issuance of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with reporting requirements
• Assist management in due diligence activity of potential acquisitions and other transactions 
• Special accounting and analytics projects assigned by management

Qualifications:
Education, Certificates, and Licenses:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
• CPA strongly preferred
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration a plus 

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience with at least 3 years of management or supervisory experience. Preference for both public accounting and industry experience; upstream experience a strong plus

Competencies:

• Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, and financial reporting requirements Extensive knowledge of specialized technical accounting applicable to oil and gas companies; upstream preferred 
• Proficient in accounting technical pronouncements, research and analysis 
• Experience building and/or maturing SOX 404 internal controls over financial reporting 
• Proven leadership abilities managing and mentoring a team of direct reports 
• Oral and written communication skills to interface effectively with management and auditors
• Strong data management skills; ability to format, model and analyze
• Ability to prioritize tasks to meet business needs
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; strong PowerPoint skills to independently build polished, board-ready presentations with charts, graphs, and supporting content for Audit Committee meetings; general proficiency in Word and Outlook 
• Highly organized and proactive and must be eager to collaborate and expand knowledge base 
• Proven ability to perform under pressure and adjust to meet frequently changing needs and requirements
