Forklift Operator

This role focuses on working in a metals warehouse where you will handle, move, and pack metal materials, operate material handling equipment, and occasionally use machines to cut metals. You will work in a physically demanding, industrial environment and play a key role in keeping materials organized, shipments accurate, and operations running smoothly. Success in this position requires a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and consistent, reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Handle, move, and store metal materials within the warehouse, ensuring items remain organized and easily accessible.
• Pack metal products securely for shipment, ensuring items are properly labeled, protected, and ready for delivery.
• Lift and transport heavy metal materials, often up to 50 pounds or more, safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
• Operate machines and equipment such as cutting tools and saws to cut metal products according to specifications, as needed.
• Assist with inventory control by tracking, scanning, and documenting materials moving in and out of the warehouse.
• Use RF scanners and RF scan guns to pick, track, and verify orders and inventory accurately.
• Perform order picking, order pulling, and picking orders to support shipping, receiving, and production needs.
• Operate forklifts, including sit-down forklifts, and pallet jacks to move materials, pallets, and finished goods.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks, containers, and other delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Support shipping and receiving activities by staging, loading, unloading, and verifying shipments.
• Use hand tools, tape measures, and other basic tools to assist with cutting, measuring, and preparing materials.
• Operate warehouse and production equipment, including slitter machines and other material handling machinery, following safety procedures.
• Perform general labor, general production, and warehouse packing tasks as assigned to meet production and shipping deadlines.
• Label products and materials accurately to support inventory tracking, shipping, and customer requirements.
• Assist with stocking and maintaining warehouse inventory, ensuring items are stored in designated locations.
• Maintain equipment and tools in good working condition and promptly report any issues or defects to supervisors.
• Keep the warehouse clean, safe, and organized by following housekeeping and safety standards at all times.
• Follow all safety guidelines and consistently wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) while performing tasks.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals, shipping schedules, and customer expectations.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment while maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
