Over&Back | Full-time | Remote, U.S.-based; East Coast preferred

Reports to: VP, Commercial Growth & Product Development

Individual contributor; no direct reports

About the Role

Over&Back is a family-owned company with more than 40 years of experience creating products for the home. Building on our tabletop expertise, established sourcing relationships and existing garden business, we're expanding our planter assortment for major retailers and our e-commerce businesses.

We're looking for an Industrial Designer with strong design instincts and the technical skills to bring ideas to life. You'll work directly with our VP of Commercial Growth & Product Development, collaborating on concepts and owning design execution through factory sampling.

The initial focus is ceramic, porcelain and fiberstone planters, with opportunities to explore plastic and resin. This role suits someone who enjoys open collaboration, works independently and brings a nimble, resourceful approach.

What You'll Do

  • Design commercially relevant planters and garden collections around retailer needs, consumer preferences and target costs.
  • Create sketches, 3D models, renderings, technical drawings and specifications.
  • Address functional needs, including grower-pot fit, drainage, stability and surface protection.
  • Partner with our Portugal creative team and sourcing and factory teams in Asia to develop and refine samples.
  • Research trends, materials and finishes, and prepare visuals for internal and customer presentations.
  • Keep multiple projects, specifications and sample feedback organized.

What You'll Bring

  • 5+ years of industrial or product design experience in garden planters, tabletop products or interior décor is required.
  • Hands-on product development experience with ceramics, such as earthenware, stoneware or porcelain, is required.
  • A portfolio showing strong taste, attention to proportion, color and finish, and successful execution.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD, rendering and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience working with sourcing teams and manufacturers through sampling and production.
  • An understanding of retail customers, manufacturing processes and cost considerations.
  • Strong communication, organization and the initiative to move projects forward independently.
  • A relevant design degree or equivalent professional experience.

Light travel for trade shows and customer visits, including occasional international travel. Our home office is in Hauppauge, New York, with a New York City showroom. xhyhwjd
