Radiation Therapist

Job Summary:


The Radiation Therapist provides specialized radiation therapy treatment to pediatric patients within a Children's Hospital and Level II Pediatric Trauma Center. This role requires delivering precise radiation treatments according to prescribed protocols, ensuring patient safety, and collaborating with the healthcare team. The Radiation Therapist will work with a patient ratio of approximately 20 patients per therapist and will operate in a stable unit without floating or on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Administer radiation therapy treatments to pediatric patients as prescribed by radiation oncologists.
• Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment safely and effectively.
• Monitor patient responses to treatment and report any adverse reactions or concerns to the healthcare team.
• Ensure accurate documentation of treatment details and patient records.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.
• Maintain compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Provide patient education and support related to radiation therapy procedures.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Texas state licensure as a Radiation Therapist (RT).
• Knowledge of radiation therapy techniques and pediatric patient care.
• Ability to operate radiation therapy equipment and technology.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Adherence to safety standards and infection control policies.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a pediatric hospital or trauma center setting.
• Familiarity with Level II Pediatric Trauma Center protocols.
• Additional certifications related to radiation safety or pediatric care.

Special Considerations:

• No floating between units is required.
• No on-call or weekend work obligations.
• Scrub color designated as Galaxy Blue/Royal Blue for Radiation Therapists.
• Parking is free in any unrestricted space; bike racks are available.

Scheduling:

• Standard work schedule without block scheduling.
• 48-hour work week is not approved.
• Shift assignments are stable and do not require floating.
