Job Description

Our client, a leading healthcare provider committed to serving high-risk and underserved populations, is hiring an Infectious Disease Physician . This vital role offers an opportunity to impact community health through expert clinical care, innovative treatment strategies, and program development. The Infectious Disease Physician (IDP) will deliver comprehensive management of infectious diseases, primarily focusing on HIV/AIDS and hepatitis (B and C). Responsible for direct patient care, preventative services, and program leadership, the IDP will work within a multidisciplinary team to improve health outcomes, advance community initiatives, and contribute to organizational excellence. This full-time position reports to the Chief Medical Officer and is based at BMS sites, with occasional travel required.


Responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B and C, including co-infections and opportunistic infections.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based therapies and current clinical guidelines.
• Monitor patient progress, including viral suppression, liver function, medication adherence, and treatment response.
• Conduct infectious disease assessments, risk evaluations, and provide preventative care, including PrEP, PEP, STI screening, vaccinations, and harm reduction strategies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams-hepatologists, pharmacists, behavioral health providers, and social workers-to coordinate patient care.
• Support and develop HIV and hepatitis treatment protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and community outreach programs.
• Mentor clinical staff, residents, and fellows; participate in clinical research, grants, and public health projects.
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and maintain accurate medical documentation in accordance with CDC, HRSA, OSHA, and other guidelines.
• Participate in audits, peer reviews, and accreditation activities.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
• Active and unrestricted medical license in the relevant state.
• Board certification or eligibility in Infectious Disease and Internal Medicine.
• AAHIVM HIV Specialist credentials required.
• DEA registration and controlled substance certification.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience in HIV, hepatitis, or infectious disease medicine, with strong preference for experience in underserved populations and co-infection management.
• Familiarity with liver disease management, antiviral therapies, and infectious disease prevention.
• Excellent clinical assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) and commitment to culturally competent, patient-centered care.
