Education: High School Education, GED, or the equivalent is required.

Certification or Licensure: Requires a current driver's license and proof of insurance. Valid ServeSafe certification or Food Handler certificate preferred.

Skills: Must be able to drive and operate a light or medium delivery truck or vehicle safely and in conformance with state laws. Ability to learn and follow all state and federal Child Nutrition guidelines. Maintain tight schedules and perform work efficiently under fast-paced conditions. Operate a variety of food service equipment. Must have good interpersonal skills. Work independently and have good organizational skills. Understand and carry out oral and written directions. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

Work Experience: A minimum of one year of post-secondary.

Primary Duty:

This position is responsible for performing tasks related to food production driving, loading, unloading, receipt, and delivery of materials, supplies, and equipment to school sites according to a predetermined schedule for the School Nutrition Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for using the proper equipment as needed and maintaining the equipment in good working condition.

2. Ensures that trucks are properly loaded before movement.

3. See that materials or commodities are delivered, unloaded, and appropriately stored at the correct destination on time and in good condition.

4. Maintain cleanliness of vehicles; visual inspection, fuel vehicle, and routinely review safety checklist on department vehicle.

5. Receive, unload, and inspect shipments for damage and conformity to purchase order specifications and packing slips.

6. Make sure the received and delivered commodities count is correct.

7. Clean up and properly dispose of debris per assigned service tickets.

8. Keep accurate records (travel logs, etc.).

9. Place food items in racks, coolers, or freezers as required; rotate perishable and nonperishable inventory as needed; assure food shipments are not spoiled or damaged.

10. Move school equipment and furniture.

11. Lift, carry, push, and/or pull items up to 50 pounds.

12. Communicate with school site and District personnel regarding the pick-up and delivery of orders; resolve shipping errors between individual school sites; respond to emergency service requests.

13. Assist in periodic inventory activities as directed.

14. The employee shall carry out such other and further duties, whether specifically listed above or not, as are assigned or required by such employee's supervisor, other appropriate school personnel, law board policy administrative regulation, department handbook, as are reasonably necessary to the efficient operation of the school system and its mission.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, and sit.

Special Requirements: Occasional evening and weekend work. Overtime and night work are occasional but limited.
