Job Title: CAD Engineer Job Description

The CAD Engineer collaborates closely with design engineers to create, release, and manage fastener data, ensuring accurate 2D and 3D representations within multiple CAD environments. This role focuses on developing detailed fastener models and drawings, applying GD&T, maintaining catalogs and test results, and supporting design teams in the efficient release and transfer of CAD data.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design engineers to create, release, and manage fastener data across multiple projects.
• Release parts and specifications into ENOVIA, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
• Create detailed 2D and 3D fastener models using CATIA V5 and 3DExperience.
• Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) to 2D drawings based on engineering specifications.
• Transfer parts and associated data between different CAD systems while maintaining data integrity.
• Manage a catalog of fasteners and associated test results to support design and validation activities.
• Identify joint stacks in assembly contexts using 3DExperience to support proper fastener selection and design.
• Support design engineers with the creation and release of CAD models and drawings, ensuring adherence to standards and processes.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 0–2 years of experience with CATIA V5 or 3DExperience preferred; knowledge of other CAD software accepted.
• Proficiency with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Experience with 2D print and drawing creation.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with design engineers and cross-functional teams.
• Strong attention to detail in managing CAD data, specifications, and documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with ENOVIA or similar product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
• Experience working with fasteners, joint stacks, and mechanical assemblies in a CAD environment.
• General knowledge of mechanical engineering principles related to fastening and assembly.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new CAD platforms and data management tools.

Work Environment

The role operates in a professional engineering environment that relies heavily on advanced CAD and PLM tools such as CATIA V5, 3DExperience, and ENOVIA. Work is primarily computer-based, focusing on detailed design, modeling, and data management tasks in collaboration with design engineers. The position typically follows standard office hours, with work performed in a technical setting that values precision, documentation quality, and effective communication.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
