Cable Tech I

We are seeking motivated, dependable individuals who want to build hands-on experience installing and supporting network infrastructure in commercial environments. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with little to no industry experience who is eager to learn from experienced technicians and grow within a skilled technical team.What You'll Do:As a Communications Technician I, you will assist with the installation, support, and documentation of structured cabling systems for commercial projects. Daily responsibilities may include:Installing and routing Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, and other low-voltage cablingInstalling work area outlets, surface-mounted boxes, and wall outletsPulling cable through ceilings, walls, conduits, sleeves, and other pathwaysSupporting and securing cable using J-hooks, cable tray, D-rings, trapeze supports, and other industry-standard methodsOrganizing, labeling, dressing, and preparing cables for terminationAssisting with the installation of telecommunications rooms, IDF/MDF closets, racks, patch panels, fiber hardware, and related equipmentTerminating low-voltage devices and connectivity hardwarePerforming fire-stopping and pathway penetration work in accordance with project requirementsMaintaining accurate project documentation, time reporting, and material trackingFollowing all safety, quality, and site-specific proceduresWorking collaboratively with team members and supervisors to complete projects successfullyRequired Qualifications:0 to 1 year of experience in structured cabling, low-voltage installation, construction, or a related fieldAbility to use basic hand tools safely and effectivelyStrong work ethic with a willingness to learn and follow directionAbility to work in commercial construction and renovation environmentsDependable attendance and commitment to safety standardsAbility to lift, carry, and move materials as needed on job sitesPreferred Qualifications:Familiarity with Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, or low-voltage cabling systemsPrevious experience pulling cable or assisting with network infrastructure installationsExposure to telecommunications rooms, data centers, or commercial construction projectsExperience with cable testing, labeling, or quality assurance practicesJob Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Montgomery, AL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
