Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years of experience required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH certifications Must-Have: Experience with arterial lines and titrating vasoactive drips. Experience in PCU, DOU, IMC, or Stepdown. Telemetry experience including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Experience with rapid response teams and IV insulin protocols. Blood product administration and central line management experience. Able to manage peripheral lines and PICC lines. Knowledge of heparin protocols, CVA, and chest tube management. Experience with non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, and isolation precautions. Description: This position requires strong drip experience. The unit runs similarly to an ICU. Patient ratios are targeted at 1:3-4. The unit will accept 13-week contracts or longer. The schedule will be 36 or 48 hours per week. Floating to a sister unit may be required as needed. Every other weekend work is required. The patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Typical diagnoses include respiratory distress, unstable hemodynamics, and post-operative patients. Only one pressor drip per patient is allowed; additional drips will require transfer to ICU. The unit is equipped with bedside telemetry monitors. Nurses must be able to recognize and treat dysrhythmias. Special equipment includes A-lines, BIPAPs, chest tubes, and tracheostomy equipment. There are no ventilators on this unit.
