Job Description Job Description Payroll Tax Consultant Coral Gables, FL | On-Site 3–6 Month Contract Hourly Rate: $45 to $65 (1099 Contractor) A growing corporate organization in Coral Gables is seeking an experienced Payroll Tax Consultant for a special project-focused assignment. This role is ideal for a seasoned payroll tax professional with strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax compliance and hands-on experience setting up and managing tax accounts across multiple jurisdictions. This is a highly specialized role requiring someone who can work independently, navigate varying state requirements, and support payroll tax operations with minimal training. Key Responsibilities: Open and maintain State Withholding and Unemployment Insurance tax accounts Manage payroll tax registrations across multiple U.S. states and local jurisdictions Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations Research and resolve payroll tax notices, discrepancies, and account issues Support payroll tax setup and maintenance during organizational or operational changes Partner with payroll and HR teams to ensure accurate tax configuration and reporting Maintain accurate documentation and compliance records Requirements: Strong hands-on payroll tax experience Experience setting up State Withholding and SUI accounts across multiple states Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations Experience handling payroll tax registrations, compliance, and account maintenance Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills Preferred: Experience working in large or multi-state corporate environments CPP certification is a plus Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, Ceridian, or similar platforms is helpful but not required This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll tax specialist looking for a project-based consulting engagement with immediate impact.
