Operations Chemist

Job Summary TCC Materials is a leading manufacturer of architectural and concrete specialty products, which include concrete masonry block, concrete repair products, precast, architectural stone, mortars and grout, and hardscape landscaping products. Responsibilities Work with Technical Services and Manufacturing to provide technical support related to production at the assigned plant. Coordinate all lab work and implement and execute the production plant laboratory QA/QC materials testing program, including the annual submittal testing program. Maintain lab equipment and perform mix design testing, new product development testing, and preparation of test reports. Obtain and maintain necessary industry certifications and assist the Technical Manager and Production Managers in evaluating manufacturing processes, raw materials, and finished products. Provide in‑house testing of all products made at the assigned plant in collaboration with the Technical Manager and other technical staff. Schedule, track, and record all testing performed in the lab and maintain data, inspection, and testing records. Act as a change agent for continuous improvements, ensuring products are produced in compliance with applicable design specifications and establishing acceptance standards. Develop and maintain relationships with Sales and Plant personnel to assist with technical issues, product troubleshooting, and field problems. Maintain and calibrate laboratory testing equipment, perform inspection and quality control testing on incoming materials, work in‑process, and finished goods. Communicate results to the Technical Manager and work with Operations and Technical staff to optimize products and mix designs for cost‑effective manufacturing while complying with specifications and customer demands. Maintain proper testing certifications for laboratory staff and comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations. Maintain a clean and organized working environment, perform all tasks with accuracy and organized documentation, and optimize efficiency, productivity, and equipment performance. Develop, implement, and verify standard operating procedures (SOP) for all job‑related tasks and provide SOP training. Maintain effective working relationships with company employees, suppliers, and customers, promoting a professional image and ensuring timely problem resolution and customer satisfaction. Qualifications and Requirements Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from operations, sales, marketing, and management. Ability to discuss technical and logistical aspects of cementitious, chemical, and related products, quality, and production. Must acquire necessary certifications as required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret building codes, material specifications, test methods, ASTM/ANSI standards, governmental regulations, etc. Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts, including statistical analysis, percentages, and ratios, to analyze test data. Ability to create documents and spreadsheets containing testing data and graph results. Must follow instructions and adhere to the company’s safety policy procedures and recommendations. Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and ERP systems. Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering required. Must be able to read, write, and speak in English.
