Yard Supervisor

Summary: The Yard Supervisor is responsible for the overall oversight of the GEODIS trailer yards in ordinance with contractual regulations. Job Duties: -

• Provide supervision and coordination of yard clerks and yard hostlers
• Scheduling of personnel at various yards
• Works closely with operations and safety ensuring equipment is

available and in working order · Verifying adherence to safety standards and yard procedures to include wheel chocking, glad hand lock application and jack stands

• Works closely with security guards on yard communication and flow
• Maintaining and distributing an accurate yard inventory report of

equipment pools at each yard by customer and carrier

• Responsible for the timely maintenance of all location equipment
• Troubleshooting various issues as they arise with carriers
• Supervises, trains and implements best practices for all new hires
• Other duties as required and assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency
• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university preferred
• Approved Motor Vehicle Record
• Minimum 3 years of related experience and/or training; or an

equivalent combination of education and experience · Experience with building and manipulating spreadsheets to report information to external and internal shareholders · PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Access and Excel · Excellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external customers

• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,

operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual

• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions
