Job Title Pool Cardiac Sonographer 3 - USFTGP Pediatrics Cardiology (2600021X) Job Description The Cardiac Sonographer III, under the supervision of the Manager of Clinical Operations and Lead Cardiac Sonographer, performs advanced cardiac imaging for diverse patient populations. This role conducts a full range of echocardiographic examinations, including 2D/3D transthoracic studies, myocardial strain imaging, bubble studies, contrast echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, and research-related imaging. The Sonographer independently prepares and positions patients, explains procedures, and correlates clinical history with the ordered examination to ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging. The Cardiac Sonographer III assists physicians with stress and research echocardiograms and is responsible for timely reporting and documentation within the PACS system. This position requires a high level of technical expertise, clinical judgment, and the ability to work autonomously while supporting the cardiology team in delivering exceptional patient care. Responsibilities Perform full-range echocardiographic examinations including 2D/3D transthoracic, myocardial strain, bubble, contrast, and stress studies. Prepare and position patients, explain procedures, and correlate clinical history with the ordered examination. Assist physicians with stress and research echocardiograms. Report findings and document results within the PACS system. Work autonomously to support the cardiology team and maintain high quality of patient care. Qualifications High School or GED plus completion of a technical program in Echocardiography. BLS certification. Minimum 2 years of experience performing adult 2D/3D and strain echocardiography. Certification required to perform echocardiography procedures. Thorough understanding of adult cardiac anatomy, physiology, pathology, and principles of 2D, 3D, Doppler, myocardial strain, bubble, contrast, and stress echocardiography. Skill in operating and troubleshooting ultrasound equipment, PACS systems, contrast injectors, and supporting technologies. Ability to correlate patient history, symptoms, and test indications with imaging findings for accurate and clinically relevant studies. Excellent communication skills, providing clear explanations, reassurance, and compassionate care to patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary staff. Demonstrated ability to perform complex imaging procedures with minimal supervision while prioritizing tasks and maintaining accuracy. Knowledge of infection control, ultrasound safety, accreditation guidelines, and departmental protocols related to cardiac imaging. Location Tampa, USF Children’s Medical Service – 13101 Bruce B.
