Manager of Network Engineering and Operations

***Hybrid onsite

We are seeking a Manager of Network Engineering and Operations to lead the reliability, performance, security, and continuous improvement of a large, geographically distributed enterprise network. This leader will manage a team of network engineering and operations professionals supporting approximately 6,000 network devices across 500+ locations, including datacenter, cloud, WAN, LAN, wireless, SD-WAN, internet, and telecommunications environments.

This role requires a hands-on technology leader who can develop and hold a team accountable to performance, establish meaningful KPIs, drive proactive network operations, and lead major infrastructure initiatives. The manager will also play a key role in the organization's Azure transformation and partner closely with infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, architecture, and business teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day network engineering and operations, including monitoring, incident response, escalations, troubleshooting, and service restoration.
• Manage, mentor, develop, and conduct performance reviews for network engineering and operations team members.
• Establish clear KPIs and performance metrics for the team and network environment; use data and dashboards to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
• Build a proactive operating culture that identifies and addresses network issues before they impact the business.
• Lead major incidents, root-cause analysis, problem management, and corrective action initiatives.
• Oversee a large enterprise network supporting approximately 6,000 devices across 700 locations.
• Manage enterprise WAN, LAN, wireless, datacenter, cloud, SD-WAN, internet, telecommunications, and load-balancing environments.
• Drive network automation, standardization, orchestration, and operational efficiency using Python, Ansible, APIs, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Lead network infrastructure projects including branch deployments, datacenter upgrades, cloud connectivity, hardware refreshes, and network modernization.
• Support and help lead the organization's Azure transformation, including hybrid cloud connectivity and network architecture.
• Maintain and improve network security through technologies including Palo Alto firewalls, Cisco ISE, and related security controls.
• Establish and enforce network standards, ITIL processes, change management, operational procedures, and best practices.
• Partner with cybersecurity and compliance teams on governance, vulnerability remediation, audits, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage network vendors, telecom providers, contracts, SLAs, support agreements, and service performance.
• Develop capacity plans, performance reporting, network dashboards, and operational metrics.
• Work closely with architecture, infrastructure, security, cloud, and business teams to deliver enterprise technology initiatives.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in enterprise network engineering, infrastructure operations, or network operations management.
• 2+ years of experience leading technical network engineering or operations teams.
• Demonstrated experience managing and developing technical employees, including performance reviews and accountability for team KPIs.
• Experience supporting large, geographically distributed enterprise environments.
• Experience leading major incidents, infrastructure projects, network modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to take initiative, drive change, and develop a proactive team culture.
• Experience managing telecom providers, technology vendors, service contracts, and SLAs.
• Experience with hybrid cloud networking and enterprise cloud transformation, preferably Azure.
