Match Staffing is Hiring For a Forklift/Material Handler

Job Summary
The Forklift Driver / Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other
material handling equipment to load, unload, move, store, and stage materials, raw ingredients, packaging, and
finished goods throughout the facility. This role supports production, shipping, receiving, and inventory accuracy
while strictly following all safety protocols, including OSHA powered industrial truck standards. The position
requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a strong commitment to workplace safety and inventory
integrity.
Key Responsibilities
• Safely operate forklifts (counterbalance, reach truck, stand-up, or sit-down), pallet jacks, and other powered
industrial trucks to move materials within the warehouse, production areas, docks, and yard.
• Conduct daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and equipment; report any defects, damage, or maintenance
needs immediately and do not operate unsafe equipment.
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers; verify quantity, condition, and documentation against bills of
lading, packing lists, or purchase orders; report discrepancies or damage.
• Move, stage, and store materials, raw materials, packaging supplies, and finished goods in designated
locations following FIFO (First-In, First-Out) principles and warehouse organization standards.
• Supply production lines with required materials, packaging, and ingredients in a timely manner to support
continuous operations.
• Pick, stage, wrap, band, label, and prepare outbound shipments according to order requirements and
company procedures.
• Perform accurate inventory transactions using RF scanners, barcode systems, or warehouse management
systems (WMS/ERP); assist with cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives.
• Secure loads properly (centering, stacking, bracing, or strapping) to prevent shifting, damage, or safety
hazards during transport or storage.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas including docks, aisles, staging zones, and storage locations;
follow 5S and housekeeping standards.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, pedestrian awareness protocols, and speed limits;
wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Assist with general warehouse or production support tasks as needed and communicate effectively with
supervisors, team members, and shipping/receiving personnel.
• Complete required documentation, logs, and reports accurately and on time.
Qualifications and Requirements
• High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Current and valid OSHA-compliant forklift operator certification (or ability to obtain certification upon hire).
Experience with multiple forklift types is a plus.
• Minimum 6 months to 1–2 years of forklift operation and material handling experience in a warehouse,
distribution, or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, shipping documents, labels, and basic instructions; basic math and
computer skills required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials up to 50–75 lbs regularly; stand, walk, climb, bend, and
mount/dismount equipment for extended periods.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as production or shipping demands
require.
• Reliable attendance, strong safety mindset, and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a
team.
Preferred Skills and Attributes
• Proven safe forklift operation record with attention to load stability, visibility, and pedestrian traffic.
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, barcode technology, and inventory
control practices.
• Strong spatial awareness, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Good communication skills and professional demeanor when interacting with team members and drivers.
• Knowledge of FIFO, proper stacking techniques, and basic shipping/receiving procedures.
• Additional certifications (e.g., reach truck, order picker, or hazardous materials handling) are advantageous.
Working Conditions
Warehouse, distribution center, or manufacturing plant environment that may include exposure to varying
temperatures, noise, dust, and moving equipment. Work is performed while standing and walking for long periods
and involves frequent mounting/dismounting of forklifts. Personal protective equipment (safety shoes,
high-visibility vest, safety glasses, hard hat where required, and hearing protection) must be worn. The role
requires constant vigilance around pedestrians, other vehicles, and racking systems.
