General Activities Therapist 2 Responsibilities Work under direction from the Activity Therapy Supervisor for the Ohio Department of Youth Services Circleville Juvenile Correctional Facility to plan, organize, conduct and ensure implementation of clinical adjunctive therapy program/services for youth assigned to residential treatment units. Organize & conduct individual and/or group recreational and activity therapy sessions (e.g., individual and/or team sports, arts & crafts, music, drama, physical fitness, community service functions, etc.). Plan and instruct youth in a variety of leisure and therapeutic activities designed to expand their knowledge, skills, and fitness levels; participate in weekly treatment team meetings to update on youth recreational participation and progress; prepare reports and/or progress notes for inclusion in youth records; review youth physical fitness assessment to prepare individualized activity therapy program; develop and coordinate community service projects; maintain community contact via church groups, volunteer opportunities, and/or civic organizations to support community service projects; supervise youth workers assigned to the work area. Maintain recreation equipment and/or areas: keep neat, orderly inventory of supplies and equipment, ensure safety measures are applied to all activities and use/storage of equipment; serve as official for all group activities performed by youth. Transport youth to off‑grounds activities; coordinate activities for youth with other agencies and/or DYS departments. Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., participate in organized functions within the facility and DYS, attend meetings, seminars, and trainings related to area of expertise). Qualifications 30 months experience with coaching, personal training, and/or fitness instruction or 30 months experience providing work direction to incarcerated persons and training and/or development. Or completion of an associate degree in recreation; 12 months experience in activity therapy or recreation. Or completion of an undergraduate core program in recreation; 6 months experience in activity therapy or recreation. Or 6 months experience as General Activities Therapist 1, 44211. Or equivalent minimum class qualifications for employment as noted above.
