Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is hiring a PCU RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring 2 years of specialty experience and both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) RN licensure.

Job Details

• PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown unit within a Progressive Care setting,
• 1:5 patient ratios,
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-7:15),
• 8 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule (combination of Fri/Sat/Sun),
• Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit,
• Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities, including all MSI units and Emergency Department for inpatient holding,
• No on-call requirements,
• Epic EMR preferred,

Job Requirements

• Active RN license: Missouri and Kansas or compact license required in hand at time of consideration,
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS,
• 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days,
• Previous Charge RN and Teaching Hospital experience preferred,
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management,
• Experience with telemetry (on-unit and remote monitoring) and Rapid Response Team utilization,
• Cardiovascular care experience including pre/post cardiac cath, cardiac surgery, and post-MI management,
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills including central line, PICC line, and peripheral line management, and blood product administration,
• Experience with IV insulin protocols,
• Respiratory care skills including chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, and tracheostomy care,
• Experience with cardiac drip management (titration required for full scope),
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions experience,
• Feeding tube care and management experience,
• Pre/post hemodialysis and renal failure management experience,
• Two professional references required, one supervisor-level or above and one charge RN, both from within the past year,
• Social Security number required at time of consideration,

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive cardiac telemetry and progressive care nursing across a range of complex patient conditions,
• Participate in emergency response protocols including Rapid Response/Code Team activations,
• Candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility are not eligible for consideration,
• Maximum RTO of 7 days, with all time-off requests finalized at time of consideration,
• No new RTO requests permitted after consideration or during onsite process,
• Employees with 18+ months of tenure require a 3-month break in service before returning; permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler,
• Compliance documents due 2 Fridays before start date, with required modules completed prior to start,
• EPIC training module or test-out option required prior to start,
• Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed by the Sunday before start date,
• Travel partners are not accepted for this assignment,
