Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will lead operations across Hospital Sisters Health System’s Central Illinois Market, overseeing five hospitals headquartered at HSHS St. John’s in Springfield, IL. The COO reports directly to the Central Illinois Market President & CEO and drives operational excellence, growth, strategy, culture, and community engagement throughout the market.
Responsibilities
- Direct operational leadership of HSHS St. John’s Hospital.
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations for the five-market hospitals.
- Partner with the Executive Leadership Team on strategy, performance improvement, and culture initiatives.
- Maintain accountability to the market’s financial performance and quality metrics.
- Represent the market in community, regulatory, and vendor engagements.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in business, healthcare administration, management, finance, or related field.
- At least seven years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital, health system, multi‑specialty practice, or integrated delivery system.
- COVID‑19 vaccination or approved exemption.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship status in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
- Direct operational oversight of a multi‑hospital market or flagship hospital.
- Experience managing in a matrixed environment.
Compensation
Base salary plus annual bonus incentive. Salary Range: $422,400 - $469,900, with placement determined by experience, certifications, and education.
