Psychiatric - Mental Health Physician

Duration: 3 months to long term
Shift: 07:00AM to 5:00PM (Mon to Fri)
Hours/Week: 40 Hours/Week

Job Duties:
• Supervision of psychiatric services and coordination of other treatment modalities, supervision of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, initial treatment planning, comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment planning, Individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy in Family therapy, Behavior therapy, Substance abuse treatment, evaluation for guardianship, conditional and unconditional release evaluations, and court testimony
• Patient Load for full-time average 40 patients (2 wards) required to be seen monthly and as needed (daily not needed unless on special precautions).
• Legal status of patients NGRI, VBG (voluntary by Client), PIST (permanently incompetent to stand trial), VBG formerly PIST, SVP (sexually violent predator).
• Most Common Diagnoses Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Mood Disorders, Personality Disorders, Substance Abuse Disorders, Paraphilias.
• NGRI and SVP status require court ordered conditional release.
• Diagnosis and treatment including medications, therapy, referrals and consultations as needed.
• Participate in weekly treatment team meeting/ward (consists of nurse, psychologist (or designee), social worker, pharmacist, recreation staff, primary care physician, and dietary staff
• Participate in meetings as needed (6 times per year medical staff meetings, as needed with teams to discuss patient concerns, case consultations, special staffing, etc.)

License and Certification:
• Must hold a valid Missouri Medical License.
• Board-eligible or board-certified psychiatrist.
• Doctoral degree (MD or DO).
