U.S. VETS, the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to ending veteran homelessness, is seeking a motivated Outreach Specialist to connect veterans experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness to housing and comprehensive support services. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who thrives in the community, enjoys building relationships, and wants to help veterans achieve independence.What You’ll DoPublicize U.S. VETS services by visiting shelters, treatment programs, transitional housing, sober living programs, soup kitchens, and other locations where people experiencing homelessness may congregateMaintain a database of client information and referrals to track veterans and schedule screening appointmentsCoordinate transportation for veterans to U.S. VETS sites and program eventsCollaborate with external service providers to ensure timely collection of required paperwork for client filesProduce weekly reports of veterans encountered by the outreach teamAssist with communication of upcoming projects and special events sponsored by the outreach teamAttend weekly outreach meetings and participate in team activitiesPerform other duties as assignedAdditional Program-Specific DutiesFor Outreach Specialists working with SSG FOX clients:Report to the head of clinical services or Director of Behavioral HealthComplete VA dashboard assessments, CSSR forms, PHQP, and intake psychosocial assessmentsBuild rapport and maintain relationships with clients and community partnersBachelor’s degree in social services or related fieldExperience working with people experiencing homelessness and/or the veteran populationOne year of experience in social services (employment at U.S. VETS for at least six months may substitute for one year of experience)Strong oral, written, and communication skillsStrong organizational skills and ability to work within a teamComputer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft OfficeValid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurance requirementsWhy Join U.S. VETS?Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, generous PTO, and moreOpportunities for advancement through professional development and mentorshipSupportive culture with a mission-driven team committed to collaboration and excellenceMeaningful work that changes lives by helping veterans and their families find housing, healing, and hopeReady to make an impact?
