Description


The Director of Education Programs shall report to the Dean of Arts & Sciences. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Oversee all aspects of the college's Education Programs (Early Childhood, Alternative Licensure, etc.).
  • Participate in statewide meetings for directors of education pertinent to NMJC programs.
  • Responsible for maintaining national accreditation for continued licensure eligibility in New Mexico.
  • Responsible for all required state and federal reports for education programs.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, NMPED requirements, CAEP accreditation, and federal mandates.
  • Serve as custodian of all education program records in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines, laws, statutes, and directives.
  • Develop new licensure pathways and update current curriculum and pathways in accordance with NMPED requirements and recommendations.
  • Recruit and advise students in the education programs.
  • Teach education courses (up to 6 credit hours) each fall/spring semester, as needed.
  • Supervise education faculty (full and part-time) including annual evaluations.
  • Fulfill institutional service requirements by actively participating on working committees as assigned.
  • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various College activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in the field of education is required. All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
  • A Master's degree in the field of education is preferred.
  • Professional experience in a supervisory position and/or working with the NMPED licensure bureau is desirable.
  • Previous experience teaching education courses at the college level is preferred.
  • The successful candidate must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
Additional Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NMPED licensure regulations, CAEP accreditation standards, and federal reporting mandates.
  • Ability to develop, align, and update higher education curriculum to meet state and institutional pathways.
  • Strong supervisory and evaluative skills to lead, mentor, and manage full-time and part-time education faculty.
  • Excellent student-facing skills to effectively recruit, advise, and teach a diverse population of aspiring educators.
  • Demonstrated organizational and academic record-keeping proficiency to maintain strict compliance and program confidentiality.

Additional Information

403(b) Retirement Plan -A 403(b) plan (tax-deferred annuity or TSA) is a retirement plan offered by public schools. This plan lets employees defer some of their salary into individual accounts. NMJC has entered into a partnership with Nor Lea Hospital to operate the Thunderbird Health Center, ensuring that high-quality healthcare services will be readily accessible to the campus community. The Thunderbird Health Center is available at no cost to NMJC students, faculty, and staff. Participants will not need insurance to access limited primary-care services at the Thunderbird Health Center.


Annual CORE (Center Of Recreational Excellence) Corporate Membership is for full-time employees and their eligible family members.


- NMJC offers a campus Wellness Program to promote individual wellness among members of the campus community through education and prevention. This program requires full-time employees to take ONE (1) hour each week from work to participate in physical activity. To sign up for this program, you must complete the NMJC Wellness Program Participation form and turn it in to the Human Resources Office.

Staff Tuition Waiver - A full-time employee of NMJC, their spouse, and eligible children are entitled to a total of nine (9) credit hours of tuition-free credit courses per semester, including course fees. In addition, a full-time employee of NMJC, their spouse, and eligible children can take (1) community education course/offering at no cost per semester, provided (i) NMJC employed the full-time employee as of the date of registration for such class or classes and (ii) the minimum number of paid enrollees has been attained to offer the class.
A full-time employee of NMJC, their spouse, and eligible children are each entitled to one (1) non-credit workforce training/program per fiscal year, provided: (i) NMJC employed the full-time employee as of the date of registration for such training/program and (ii) the minimum number of paid enrollees has been attained to offer the class.
