Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areas according to district health and safety standards.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wax floors to maintain a clean and safe learning environment.
Empty trash and recycling containers and replace liners throughout the assigned areas.
Clean and disinfect restroom fixtures, mirrors, partitions, sinks, and replenish paper products and soap dispensers.
Dust and wipe furniture, desks, windowsills, lockers, and other surfaces.
Clean interior and exterior glass, doors, and entryways.
Set up and break down tables, chairs, and equipment for school events, meetings, and special activities.
Monitor school facilities for safety hazards, maintenance needs, or security concerns and report issues promptly.
Perform minor maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and changing HVAC filters as assigned.
Assist with seasonal cleaning projects, including floor stripping, waxing, carpet extraction, and deep cleaning during school breaks.
Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, buffers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners safely and efficiently.
Maintain custodial supplies and notify the supervisor when inventory needs replenishing.
Follow proper procedures for handling, storing, and disposing of cleaning chemicals and hazardous materials.
Ensure compliance with district policies, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures.
Secure assigned areas by locking doors, turning off lights, and ensuring the building is properly closed at the end of the shift.
Respond promptly to spills, accidents, and emergency cleaning situations to maintain a safe environment.
Maintain a professional and courteous working relationship with students, staff, parents, and visitors.
Perform other custodial and facility-related duties as assigned by the Head Custodian or School Administrator.
