Job Summary:

Charleston Collegiate School is seeking a Lower School Substitute for grades a PreK through 8th grade . Successful candidates will be creative, energetic, and highly skilled teachers who are passionate about student-centered, collaborative, experiential learning. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching elementary school students.  

Charleston Collegiate School (CCS) is an independent day school which strives to recognize, nurture, and challenge each of its students.  Located on Johns Island, SC twenty minutes from Charleston’s historic district, CCS is the only co-educational, non-sectarian, preschool through 12th grade, independent school in Charleston’s metropolitan area.

Essential Qualifications:

• A deep commitment to equity and diversity.
• A deep commitment to the CCS core values and educational pillars.
• Experience with experiential education and project-based learning, especially in developing and adapting curriculum for group projects with learning goals in mind.   
• A positive ‘can-do’ attitude and growth mindset
• A willingness to participate in student-life activities e.g., advisory, club leadership, coaching, after-school programs
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject discipline, e.g.,  Education or mathematics.
• A minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience

• Independent school experience
• Advanced degree / postgraduate qualification
• The ability to teach other subject disciplines and elective courses
