Asphalt Screed OperatorLocation: York, PAScreed Operator ResponsibilitiesOperate the screed on an asphalt paving machine to achieve the desired thickness and smoothness of asphalt surfaces.Manipulate levers to control asphalt flow, screed angle, and depth for consistent mat thickness and smoothness to maintain a consistent and even surface.Continuously observe material flow and adjust settings to achieve final surface quality according to project plans.Work closely with the paver operator and other crew members to maintain production, quality standards and to ensure efficient and effective paving operations.Perform pre-shift inspections, clean, and conduct basic maintenance inspections on the screed and paving machine.Adjust screed settings and extensions to achieve desired width, depth, slope, and smooth finish, often using stakes and levels.Adhere to all safety procedures, wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and ensure a safe work environment, often near traffic or in extreme temperatures.RequirementsAbility to run screed on Leeyboy class paver and high deck highway class paverMinimum of 2 years' experience running screedStrong understanding and use of electronics and joint matchersUnderstand the operations and process of running paverKnowledge of the technologies of the grade and slope controls, vibratory control, extensions and cut-off shoesStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsAbility to work outdoors in various conditionsBasic mechanical aptitude for equipment upkeepGood communication and teamworkValid driver's license and reliable transportation; CDL a plus especially with tanker endorsementSystem One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
