This position is eligible for bilingual pay differential. SUPERVISION GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB Performs entry level eligibility determination for public assistance programs, while receiving on the job training. Training includes instruction on applicable federal and state laws, county rules, and required computer systems. Eligibility programs include Old Age Pension, Aid to the Needy Disabled, Colorado Works, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), LEAP and/or Child Care and other programs as needed. Full performance of the essential functions is preparation for the next level in the Eligibility Technician career ladder; training is generally completed after a period of one year. There are three levels in the Eligibility Technician career ladder, this position is the first level in the series. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (These duties are illustrative of typical essential responsibilities of the job, and may vary according to assignment) Participates in training and instruction. Under close supervision, assists in determining financial eligibility for public assistance programs. Interviews clients and reviews applications for eligibility programs eligibility. Inputs data into State CBMS system for new cases and information changes to current cases such as new addresses, phone numbers, birth of children, loss of family member, age limitations for certain programs and addition of household members. Studies and learns the applicable rules and regulations. Develops skill in interpretation and application of required rules for efficient application processes. Develops skills in client interactions, customer service focused client interactions which include home visits, client interviews, and appropriate business communications such as phone calls, emailing, and mailing of forms. Provides exceptional customer services and ensures that client-based tasks, community questions, or provider requests are completed in a timely manner. Completes required administrative tasks such as filing, paperwork completion checklists, and organization of cases in appropriate system. Other duties as assigned. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: One year of experience in customer service with a demonstrated ability to use and learn new business technologies. Previous experience in a human service-related position is preferred. Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver’s License. Preferred: Bilingual: Ability to speak, read, and write English and Spanish. REQUIRED PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES Sitting: The primary task involves sitting at a desk, computer, or workstation for extended periods, performing administrative tasks and using computer equipment. Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting and carrying of lightweight office supplies, documents, or small packages may be required, typically not exceeding 10 pounds. Bending and Reaching: May involve occasional bending or reaching to access office equipment, files, or supplies within standard office settings. Grasping and Typing: Ability to use a keyboard, mouse, and office equipment, demonstrating fine motor skills for typing, clicking, and manipulating documents. Visual Acuity: Clear vision for reading printed and on-screen materials, including text, graphics, and data, and for viewing computer monitors for extended periods. Hearing: Adequate hearing to engage in conversations, respond to telephone calls, and interact with colleagues in a typical office environment. Walking/Mobility: Occasional short walks, or mobility, within the office premises may be necessary to attend meetings, access common areas, or collaborate with colleagues. Stamina: Maintain the ability to maintain focus, productivity, and attention to detail while working at a desk for standard office hours. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment. Extended periods of sitting are required. WORK HOURS Regular Full-Time position, 40 hours per week. Hours are typically 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday. There may be times when an employee may need to work outside the established work week, such as after hours or on the weekend. REQUIRED TRAVEL The employee is regularly required to travel within the County. TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT Computer and relevant software applications, spreadsheets, calendars, and word processing. Will also work with calculators, telephone systems, and mobile phones.
