Role Description The Fabricator is a full-time, on-site role based at our Birmingham, AL facility, responsible for producing high-quality components and assemblies for custom web converting and material handling equipment. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints, cutting, forming, and welding metals, and assembling mechanical structures to precise tolerances. The role involves operating fabrication equipment such as saws, press brakes, plasam table, and welding machines, as well as performing fit-up, alignment, and inspection to ensure structural integrity and accuracy. The Fabricator will collaborate closely with engineers and technicians, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and maintain a clean, safe work area in accordance with company and regulatory safety standards. Qualifications Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics; strong measurement and layout skills. Hands-on experience with metal fabrication processes, including cutting, forming, and welding (MIG/TIG), and familiarity with common fabrication tools and machinery. Ability to assemble complex mechanical structures and equipment, with attention to alignment, tolerances, and quality standards. Knowledge of shop safety practices, safe equipment operation, and proper handling of materials and tools. High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in welding, machining, or industrial fabrication preferred. Strong problem-solving skills, reliability, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a production environment. Previous experience in custom equipment manufacturing, industrial machinery, or related heavy fabrication settings is beneficial.
