Phlebotomist III - Floater

Pay Range: $26.35hr - $28.25hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative III-Floater (PSR III) represents the organization to patients seeking healthcare insights. The candidate draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for laboratory testing following established practices and procedures. The candidate maintains direct contact with patients to build trust and confidence while explaining procedures and executing skillful, safe, and accurate blood draws. The candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors, focus on process excellence, and maintain sensitivity regarding confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. The successful candidate may be assigned to a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate.


Responsibilities:


Under the direction of the area supervisor, perform daily activities accurately and on time. Maintain a safe and professional environment. Performs with confidence, both the forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established practices and procedures. Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including securing the patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct. Maintains required records and documentation. Demonstrates organizational commitment and promotes a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public in general.

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexibility and availability based on staffing needs, which includes weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Commitment to all policies and procedures including company dress code, employee health and safety, and guiding principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations, covering at patient service center and in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrated superior customer focus, strong verbal and written communication skills to interact openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients, ability to accelerate and embrace change, and solid business operational knowledge.
• Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Medical training such as Medical Assistant or Paramedic training is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred, and required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience:

• 3+ years of phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboarding and data entry experience.
