Job Description

The Soldering Technician assembles, repairs, and tests printed circuit boards and electronic equipment using through-hole and surface-mount soldering techniques. This role focuses on component-level work on PCBs, supporting radio antennas, amplifier transmitters, and other large electronic systems while maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform through-hole and surface-mount soldering on printed circuit boards with consistent quality and precision.
• Carry out component-level soldering repairs on PCBs, ensuring reliable connections and proper functionality.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair printed circuit boards at the component level using appropriate tools and procedures.
• Assemble electronic components and subassemblies according to blueprints, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
• Work with radio antennas, amplifier transmitters, and other large electronic equipment as part of the assembly and repair process.
• Handle and position heavy electronic equipment, such as sliding radios on a conveyor belt, using safe practices and available lifting assistance.
• Use small hand tools such as box cutters and wrenches, and larger tools including electric drills, impact drills, torque drivers, and heat guns within safety specifications.
• Follow detailed instructions and documentation to ensure accurate wiring, electronic assembly, and PCB configuration.
• Perform basic computer-based system processing, including data entry and navigation of computer applications for electronic testing and documentation.
• Maintain a high level of attention to detail and quality workmanship in all soldering, assembly, and testing activities.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and standard operating procedures while working with electronic equipment, tools, and test systems.
• Stand for extended periods while performing soldering, assembly, and testing tasks on the production floor.

Essential Skills

• 1 to 2+ years of experience with through-hole soldering on printed circuit boards.
• 1 to 2+ years of experience with surface-mount (SMT) soldering on printed circuit boards.
• Hands-on experience performing component-level soldering repair on PCBs.
• Proficiency in testing, troubleshooting, and repairing printed circuit boards at the component level.
• Experience with electronic assembly, including wiring, electrical assembly, and PCB assembly.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints or similar technical documentation for electronic assembly.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
• Basic computer proficiency, including data entry and navigating computer applications such as MS Office.
• Ability to use small hand tools such as box cutters and wrenches safely and effectively.
• Ability to use larger tools such as electric drills, impact drills, torque drivers, and heat guns within safety specifications.
• Capability and willingness to work with heavy electronic equipment (75+ lbs) using appropriate assistance and safe handling methods.
• Ability to stand for long periods while performing soldering and assembly tasks.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working with radio antennas, amplifier transmitters, or large electronic equipment.
• Familiarity with surface-mount and through-hole soldering assembly processes in a production or repair environment.
• Experience with electronics, electrical assembly, or related technical fields.
• Comfort using various hand tools and power tools in an electronics manufacturing or repair setting.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and maintain accurate records during electronic testing and system processing.

Work Environment

This position is based in a production and repair environment focused on printed circuit boards and large electronic equipment such as radio antennas and amplifier transmitters. You will regularly work with PCBs, electronic assemblies, and a variety of hand and power tools, including box cutters, wrenches, electric drills, impact drills, torque drivers, and heat guns. The role requires standing for long periods and working around heavy equipment, with two-person lifts and other assistance available for handling items over 75 pounds. Computer systems and applications, including MS Office and other testing or processing tools, are used daily for data entry and electronic testing, creating a blend of hands-on technical work and computer-based tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Worth, TX.

The pay range for this position is $25.85 - $25.85/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
