Your role at Clorox:

As Manufacturing Project Engineer, you will provide engineering leadership across two manufacturing facilities, partnering closely with cross-functional leaders and reporting to the Plant Engineering Manager. You will be responsible for managing a significant capital budget and leading manufacturing improvement projects from concept through implementation. The role combines project leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on problem-solving to improve equipment reliability, manufacturing performance, and operational efficiency across both facilities. You will be based at our Hidden Valley Ranch plant in Wheeling, IL, and you will be required to travel up to 20% of the time.

In this role, you will:

Lead Capital Projects & Manufacturing Improvements

• Lead capital projects from inception through feasibility, business justification, detailed engineering, equipment selection, installation, and commissioning to achieve successful start-up.
• Drive equipment and systems efficiency improvements, cost savings, and upgrades to enhance operational performance.
• Manage contractors and external engineering firms to ensure project scope, timelines, and budgets are met.
• Support plant capacity expansions, layout modifications, and process scale-ups through engineering expertise and project coordination.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies and automation systems to improve productivity and reduce downtime.

Provide Technical & Engineering Leadership

• Provide long-term technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams, identifying and addressing process, maintenance, and continuous improvement opportunities.
• Act as a key technical resource for maintenance and production staff, providing problem-solving expertise and driving effective solutions.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including P&IDs, equipment specifications, and maintenance procedures.
• Utilize data-driven methodologies such as Six Sigma, Root Cause Analysis, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to diagnose issues and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor key performance indicators for equipment and processes and initiate projects to address underperformance.

Drive Reliability & Operational Performance

• Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and lifecycle.
• Support equipment troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Apply reliability-centered maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, and Computerized Maintenance Management System practices to support plant reliability initiatives.
• Provide training and mentoring to Maintenance and Operations employees on new systems and equipment.

Partner Across the Business

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Environmental, Health & Safety, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance, to ensure engineering projects align with business goals.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements throughout engineering and project activities.
• Work effectively as both a technical leader and team member, building strong partnerships across the manufacturing organization.

What we look for:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of related experience leading major capital projects in manufacturing or plant engineering, preferably in the CPG or foods industries.
• Proven track record managing the planning, analysis, approval, and execution of capital projects, including cost management, scheduling, quality control, start-up and commissioning, and training.
• Strong technical expertise with the ability to think conceptually and systematically when addressing complex engineering challenges.
• Experience with equipment troubleshooting, root cause failure analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and EWM.
• Preferably with experience with Allen-Bradley controls and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, or Computerized Maintenance Management Systems to support plant reliability initiatives.
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively as both a team member and leader.

Based on the breadth of our ranges, most new hires will start at Clorox in the first half of the applicable range. Your starting pay will depend on job-related factors, including relevant skills, knowledge, experience and location. The applicable salary range for every role in the U.S. is based on your work location and is aligned to one of three zones according to the cost of labor in your area.

–Zone A: $90,900 - $170,100

–Zone B: $83,400 - $155,900

–Zone C: $75,800 - $141,700
