MinimumSalary:$72,744.00(DependentonEducation&Experience) JobSummary: The SpecialEducation Coordinator provides direct compliance support for the district.The Special Education Coordinatorensurescompliancewithstateandfederalguidelinespertainingtospecialeducationbyassisting with the coordination and monitoring of evaluation timelines, IEP document compliance, implementation of IEPs,progressmonitoringdataupdates,ACHIEVEupdatesandoverallmaintenanceofthespecialeducation audit files. Duties&Responsibilities: EssentialFunctionsofPosition,MajorResponsibilities,SummaryofKeyDuties,SpecialAssignments,Relationships KeyResponsibilities: DistrictCompliance ConductsnewteachertrainingforIEPwriting. Informscampus-basedspecialeducationstaffandadministratorsofthetimelinesforIEP development, annual reviews, evaluation timelines, reevaluations, MDR. ConductsmonthlyIEPauditstoensurecompliancewithfederal,stateanddistrictspecial education policies and procedures. ManagesthestatusofdocumentstoensureIEPsarelegallycompliantinallareasbefore archiving. Monitorsallspecialeducationrecordsforaccuratestudent/programscounts. MeetsatleastmonthlywiththeDirectorofSpecialEducationwithupdatesonall documentation. ManagestheoverallACHIEVEsystemforspecialeducation. PerformotherdutiesasassignedbytheDirectorofSpecialEducation. OversightofACHIEVELEAmanagementundertheroleofpermissionmanager. ProfessionalDevelopmentandCollaboration Stayabreastofcurrenttrends,research,andbestpracticesinspecialeducationandtherapeutic interventions. Participateinrequiredprofessionaldevelopmentactivities,workshops,andtrainingsessionsto enhance knowledge and skills. Collaboratewithcolleaguestoshareexpertise,resources,andstrategiesforsupporting students with disabilities. OtherDutiesasassignedbytheDirectorofSpecialEducationorExecutiveDirectorofStudent and Family Services. ProgramOversight Fosterpositiveandcollaborativerelationshipswithleaders,teachers,supportstaff,parentsand community stakeholders. FacilitateproblemsolvingdiscussionswithIEPteamstoensureequityofvoiceandteam consensus on issues regarding FAPE. Collaboratewithleadershiptopromoteinclusivepracticesandasupportivelearning environment for all students. Qualifications/Knowledge: Master'sdegreeinSpecialEducation,EducationLeadership,orarelatedfield,preferred. IowastatecertificationinSpecialEducationorrelatedarea. Extensiveexperienceinspecialeducation Leadershipexperiencepreferred Strongunderstandingof: federalandstatespecialeducationrulesandlaws KeycomponentsoftheIEPprocessanddocuments(e.g.,goals,services) Secondarytransitionplanning Abilitytoeffectivelyallocateandprioritizetimetoseveraltaskstoensurecompletionofalltasks Excellentcommunicationskills(writtenandverbal)andstrongstrategicanalysisskills Abletodevelopandmaintainstrongworkingrelationshipswithcolleaguesandpeers Abletoworkwellindependentlyaswellascollaboratively Abilitytoexecutemeetings,calls,andemailswithprofessionalism,courtesyandaccuracy Personalqualitiesofmaturity,humility,strongworkethic,anddiligence PhysicalRequirements: Workisperformedprimarilyinschoolsettings,includingclassrooms,commonareas,andspecialized learning environments.
