Manager of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S)

For more information, visit Reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), this newly created position will serve as a key member of the senior operations leadership team. The Manager of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) will develop, implement, and govern all EH&S programs to ensure a safe working environment and regulatory compliance. As an individual contributor with no direct reports at this time, the leader will achieve results through influence and coaching, contributing to strategic growth by fostering a proactive safety culture and continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

COMPANY‑WIDE EHS MANAGEMENT [System Architecture] – Design, implement, and sustain an integrated management system aligned with our operating system. Evaluate work methods and systems, partner with leadership to design‑out hazards, initiate corrective actions, and address risk through standard work, SQDC routines, and structured problem solutions. Support scaling of EH&S systems across both manufacturing locations and office environments. BUILD A CULTURE OF SAFETY [Capability Building + Coaching] – Co‑achieve hazard recognition and ergonomic principles, employing system‑based root cause problem‑solving methodologies (A3, PDCA, RCA). Develop and enhance leadership capabilities to own EH&S outcomes, build competencies across the organization, and reinforce leading indicators through learning‑based conversations. COLLABORATE PROACTIVELY TO INFLUENCE [Upstream Risk Elimination + Design Partnership] – Establish early partnerships with engineering, operations, facilities, and office leadership to identify risk early in processes and design decisions. Participate in CI events, layout changes, equipment reviews, and change initiatives, advocating for engineering controls aligned with operational maturity and business priorities. COMPLIANCE + STEWARDSHIP [Regulatory Compliance + Culture Stewardship] – Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable state requirements by translating regulatory obligations into simple, practical processes. Lead accident and injury investigations, coordinate EH&S audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions, and serve as steward of EH&S systems and cultural integrity.

REQUIREMENTS

You have 5‑10+ years of progressive, hands‑on experience across multi‑sites in EH&S systems and programs, with deep knowledge of enterprise policies, job hazard analysis (JHA), incident management, ergonomic evaluation, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance frameworks. You are proficient in EH&S data management, incident tracking systems, reporting dashboards, and have experience managing an EH&S budget, including capital project justification. You have embedded lean and continuous improvement principles into EH&S systems, and are familiar with A3, PDCA, RCA, or similar methodologies. You possess broad operational experience, enabling you to integrate EH&S considerations into standard practices to support scaling across geographically dispersed facilities. You have demonstrated a proven ability to train, mentor, influence, coach, and challenge leaders and teams without formal authority to drive EH&S ownership and results. You are a hands‑on operational leader capable of flexing between strategic and tactical priorities; prior experience in both large and small office and industrial facilities is desired. You bring solid business acumen, an innovative and collaborative approach, and tech‑savvy competence across ERP/MRP (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, etc.), MS Office, CMMS, HRIS, and cloud‑based project management tools, with an appetite for responsible AI usage. You understand team and leadership accountabilities in EH&S systems, policies, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation strategies, and have a personal commitment to safety and a history of championing preventive and corrective actions. OSHA 30‑hour certification (general industry) with CPR/First Aid/AED certification is required. Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state safety standards is mandatory; HAZCOM/GHS competency is also desired. A four‑year college degree is preferred, with advanced degrees and certifications (CSP, CHMM, etc.) considered a plus.

LOCATION & TRAVEL

This position is based in‑person at our headquarters in Chesterfield, Missouri. Frequent visits to our sister facility in Wentzville, Missouri, are required, with additional travel as needed for business and professional development.
