The Role This role emphasizes bridging the gaps often found in full‑stack positions by integrating backend, frontend, and systems‑level knowledge. You will design and implement key features, optimize performance, and develop internal libraries to enhance tracing, logging, and security, with a strong focus on type safety, schema development, compliance, and frontend technologies. What You’ll Be Doing Design and extend services supporting document generation workflows using ReportLab Architect and build scalable services using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync, and DynamoDB, ensuring integration across backend and frontend systems Contribute to React frontend development for portal products and internal administration tools, with state management using Redux Toolkit (RTK) Query Implement and enforce code quality and security standards, including static code analysis, dependency management, and compliance with SOC II, HIPAA, GDPR, OWASP, and NIST frameworks Build and maintain observability systems for logging, tracing, and monitoring to ensure reliability and performance Develop and manage infrastructure with AWS services, including S3, IAM, RDS, CloudFormation, SQS, SNS, and EventBridge, using AWS SAM and AWS CDK for consistent deployments Write unit, integration, and contract tests, manage API versioning and schema consistency, and contribute to paying down technical debt Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver solutions, and mentor junior engineers on full‑stack development, security, and compliance best practices Who You Are and What You Bring Core Foundations Strong experience in Reac t frontend development with state management and API integration (RTK Query preferred) Strong foundation in HTML and XML with experience using templating languages such as Jinja2 Understanding of letter and envelope typesetting, formatting, and standards Document Generation First‑hand experience developing and abstracting document generation services with ReportLab Skilled in writing unit, integration, and contract tests with experience managing API versioning and schemas Skilled in observability practices, including tracing, logging, monitoring, and debugging distributed systems Proven track record in architecting distributed systems and designing scalable, high‑performance services Skilled in AWS Lambda Powertools for reusable patterns, configuration, validation, error handling, and metrics collection Infrastructure & Systems Experienced with AWS services , including Lambda, API Gateway, AppSync, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, RDS, CloudFormation, SQS, SNS, and EventBridge, and with AWS SAM and AWS CDK Knowledgeable in systems‑level design, infrastructure, networking, performance tuning, and change management Experienced in building self‑service tools that empower teams and reduce operational overhead Security & Compliance Experienced in handling sensitive data in secure environments with strong knowledge of encryption, access controls, and secure data transmission (HIPAA/HITECH, FedRAMP, GDPR) Experienced in compliance programs such as SOC II and security frameworks such as OWASP and NIST Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to own projects end‑to‑end, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor junior engineers Comfortable in a fast‑paced environment with the ability to adapt to changing priorities Results‑oriented and able to deliver against strict deadlines A team player who can also work independently Passionate about continuous learning and improving team capabilities Nice‑to‑Haves Experience with WeasyPrint as a transferable skill for document generation Experience with image, PDF, and text automation solutions such as ImageMagick and Poppler Experience with Python libraries such as FastAPI, Tornado, and Typer Experience with CI/CD tools and platforms such as Docker Experience with build systems like Spack and general software building and packaging Experience optimizing database design with indexes, queries, and aggregations Experience working with healthcare data or EHR systems Remote Work Requirements An established private work area that ensures information privacy A stable high‑speed internet connection for remote work This role is remote, but you will be required to come to on‑site meetings multiple times per year. Ultimately, the final pay decision will consider factors such as your experience, job level, location, and other relevant job‑related criteria. The base salary range for this position is: $160,000–$180,000/year.
