PURPOSE STATEMENT The Surgical Tech facilitates operative or other invasive procedures by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team. Job Type: Full-time Description The Surgical Tech facilitates operative or other invasive procedures by preparing and providing the required sterile instruments, supplies and equipment. Maintains the sterile field and anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team. Essential Functions Promote the mission, vision and values of the organization. Function as a scrub person during operative and other invasive procedures by assembling supplies and equipment required for the procedure; preparing and organizing sterile supplies and instruments for the procedure; performing accounting procedures in concert with the RN circulator; assisting with placement of sterile drapes; providing instruments and supplies to the surgical team during the procedure; maintaining an organized sterile field; ensuring sterility of the field and taking corrective actions as needed; and preparing sterile dressings. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information. Clean and prepare instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination area. Assists with maintaining and providing a clean environment between cases and prepares the room for subsequent cases. Utilize aseptic techniques and ensure a safe environment for the patient. Follow hospital policies and procedures. Utilize time management skills to facilitate the schedule. Routinely attends departmental meetings and hospital forums. Routinely participates in department projects to continuously improve the department and/or organization. Completion of mandatory department competencies and hospital education. Maintain regular and predictable attendance. Perform other essential duties as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program highly preferred One year of perioperative service experience preferred. Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required or obtained within 6 months of hire.?
